Police:  Arrest made connected to Wichita Family Dollar robberies

The Wichita Police Department has made an arrest connected to a pair of armed robberies at area Family Dollar stores.  In a release, police announced the arrest of Toney D. Williams, 25, of Topeka, KS on two counts of aggravated robbery regarding two armed robberies this week and two warrants.

At around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to an armed robbery at the Family Dollar in the 2300 block of South Seneca.  An employee reported that an unknown suspect entered the business, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.  An undetermined about of money was taken by the suspect who fled on foot.

Then at around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to an armed robbery at Family Dollar in the 1000 block of South Meridian.  An employee reported that an unknown suspect entered the business, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.  Money was taken by the suspect who fled on foot.

No injuries were reported in either case.

Investigators were able to identify Williams allegedly being involved in the two crimes.  He was arrested Thursday morning in the 500 block of Chautauqua in a vehicle.

The investigation remains ongoing.
