October 23, 2018 - 5:10 pm

An arrest has been made in a deadly shooting at a Wichita motel.  It happened around 4:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Delux Inn, in the 8400 block of west Kellogg.

Officers found Jackie Jerome, 43, of Wichita with multiple gunshot wounds.  He was transported to an area hospital where he died due to his injuries.

In a news release, the Wichita Police Department (WPD), says they arrested Cory Bentley, 22, of Wichita on charges of first degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with Monday’s homicide.

The investigation revealed Bentley and other individuals arrived at the hotel, where a disturbance took place between Bentley and Jerome and Bentley fired multiple times from a handgun, striking Jerome.  This was not a random incident.

The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
