WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - A man tried to flee from police in the southeast part of Wichita.

Before 4:30 a.m. Thursday, an officer on patrol tried to pull over a gray Chevy Suburban near Harry & Hydraulic for a traffic violation, but the driver sped away; that led to a chase that lasted about five minutes.

The vehicle came to a stop east of Kellogg & Hillside, in the 500 block of S. Roosevelt.

The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man, got out of the car and ran, but he was apprehended at Roosevelt & Longview Lane. A woman in the car, a 36-year-old, was taken into custody as well.

They were both arrested and booked into jail for possession of methamphetamines; the man also faces charges for an aggravated weapons violation, fleeing from police, and traffic charges.
