Police:  Suspect arrested in Wichita murder

January 07, 2020 - 11:05 pm

The Wichita Police Department has arrested Terrance Johnson, 25, of Wichita on a charge of first-degree murder stemming from a December shooting that fatally injured Sonya Brown, 19, of Wichita.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Sunday Dec. 2, officers responded to a shooting call at the 511 club, 511 North West St.  Officers located Brown with a gunshot wound.  She was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.

The investigation revealed a disturbance took place between Johnson and a man inside the business when Johnson fired multiple shots, which struck Brown who we believe was an unintended and uninvolved victim.

Investigators learned of Johnson’s involvement in the incident.  He was located and arrested on Wednesday in Warr Acres, Oklahoma.

On Tuesday, Johnson was extradited to Wichita and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
