A man is in custody after a Wichita police officer was injured after being run over by a suspect in a car.

Police say the man was visiting someone at the Sedgwick County jail Friday afternoon.  In checking his ID, officers discovered he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.  The suspect fled to a car in the parking lot before officers could make an arrest.

The man was pursued by police through the downtown area.  An officer was injured near Central and Topeka, when the suspect's vehicle ran over his foot.  The chase continued to Kellogg until he crashed near Oliver and was taken into custody.
