The Wichita Police Department has arrested a woman in a child abuse case.

In a news release, police said Amanda Rogers-Moore, 28, of Wichita was arrested on one count of felony child abuse.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a call of a girl, 2, not breathing at a residence in the 1700 block of south Faulders.  Officers contacted the girl, her stepmother Rogers-Moore, her father, 27, and several other children, ages 4, 7 and 8.

The girl was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment, where she remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The investigation revealed the girl vomiting and then not breathing awakened Rogers-Moore and her boyfriend.  The boyfriend began life saving techniques on the girl.  At the hospital, the girl was found to have the critical head injuries.

Investigators booked Rogers-Moore into jail and the other three children have been placed in police protective custody.

The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
