Quilts of Valor makes special delivery to Wichita veterans

January 12, 2019 - 7:34 pm

Several veterans were honored in Wichita Saturday, but with quilts instead of medals.

Quilts of Valor is a national foundation that began in 2003 that honors thousands of veterans all over the country. Several veterans in the Wichita area were honored on Saturday with special quilts.

The quilts are a tangible representation of veterans returning from war.

Jessica Vaughn of the Greater Wichita Quilts of Valor, says, "We want them to feel the warmth, the thank you, the compassion, the sense of family that we feel for them."

Even though 2019 is less than two weeks' old, the Wichita Chapter has made 101 quilts already, and nationally over 200,000 have been sewn.
