The Boeing Company has announced the new KC 46 Pegasus refueling tankers will be arriving at Wichita's McConnell Air Forcer Base by the end of this month. Kansas 4th District Congressman Ron Estes tells KNSS News "it's great thing", and crews at McConnell are anxious to start training and testing the new planes. Delays in production and testing have pushed back delivery, which was originally set for 2017. McConnell will be the home for 36 of the new tankers.

Estes also says he would like to see federal workers back on the job as soon as possible. He thinks "this is a perfect example of how wse could compromise".  President Trump and Congress have not agreed on a new funding bill, which has idled some 800,000 federal workers. Sticking point: the President's call for five billion dollars for a wall along the U-S/Mexico border.

On another topic ...Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida ... the U-S Navy will commission the new U-S-S Wichita battle ship, and Rep. Estes intends to be there. Said to be "the fastest ship in the Navy", this is the third Navy vessel to carry the name "Wichita".
