Second deputy dies after Kansas City shooting

Theresa King had worked in law enforcement for thirteen years

A second Kansas sheriff’s deputy has died following a shooting Friday.

Authorities say the two deputies were taking an inmate to a hearing in Kansas City when the suspect somehow got hold of a weapon. 

Kansas City, Kansas, police said 35-year old Deputy Patrick Rohrer died at the Kansas Medical Center from his injuries. He had been employed for the department for 7 years.

The second victim, identified as 44-year old Deputy Theresa King, died early (this) Saturday morning. She served 13 years in law enforcement.

The suspect also was shot and was operated on at the hospital, but his condition has not been released. 

This incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, who is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
