Senator Pat Roberts tapped to lead Senate's Agriculture Committee

January 10, 2019 - 2:10 am

Kansas Senator Pat Roberts has been tapped to lead the Agriculture Committee in the 116th Congress.

The committee will oversee the implementation of the Farm Bill, which was passed and signed into law late last year.

“As I said when I first became Chairman of this Committee in 2015, my first priority is the American farmer and rancher. That laser focus has not changed one bit," Roberts said. "We will continue to hold hearings, consider legislation in a fair and transparent manner, and consider nominations.”

He is the only member of Congress to hold the title of Agriculture Committee Chairman and Ranking Member in both the House and Senate.
