Seward County fire burns 250 acres

Multiple surrounding counties help put out the blaze

Multiple crews battled a wildfire in Seward County on Saturday afternoon.

Seward County Fire Chief Andrew Barkley confirmed that crews were dispatched  to Highway 51 West of Road G at around 1:24 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  

Two Black Hawk helicopters with water drop capabilities to assist were dispatched by the Air National Guard.

Crews from several surrounding counties were also on scene, helping out the Seward County crews.

Fire investigators say approximately 250 acres were destroyed by the wildfire, but that no structures or homes are in danger.

Investigators say the cause is under investigation.
