The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating a shooting that critically injured a Lyons police officer.
The Lyons Police Department received a 911 call around 3:40 p.m. Friday from a man who was being threatened with a gun.
When the first responding officer arrived on the scene, he was shot by Adam Hrabik, 40, who lived at the residence. Two nearby citizens who saw the shooting drove the officer to a local hospital. The officer was then transported to a Wichita hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
Additional officers and deputies arrived on the scene and found a 56-year-old Lyons man outside who had also been shot. That victim was taken to a local hospital, before being transported to a Wichita hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
Hrabik retreated into the home and a standoff ensued. At approximately 7:10 p.m. he was negotiated out of the home, taken into custody and turned over to KBI agents for questioning.
