Single-engine plane makes hard landing in Lawrence

A single-engine plane went down north of Lawrence Saturday afternoon.

The accident occured when the plane went down near the Lawrence Municipal Airport after 4 p.m.

The pilot was forced to make a hard landing after discovering a mechanical issue. He landed safely in a field in the 1600 block of North 1700 Road.

The pilot, who was the only person in the plane, was uninjured.   

The KHP is investigating the incident because the NTSB is unavailable due to the government shutdown.
