Some eclipse glasses sold in Wichita potentially unsafe

Customers who purchased eclipse glasses from Oliver's Sportscards on Wednesday in Wichita might want to closely inspect them for the proper I-S-O numbers, that would indicatethat the glasses are safe for looking toward the sun during Monday's eclipse.

Owner Vince Oliver was made aware of the situation when a customer purchased the glasses from Olivers and compared them to some other eclipse glasses purchased from a NASA vendor. When a side-by-side comparison of the two pairs was done, it was discovered that some of the pairs sold at Olivers had no I-S-O numbers on them. The main concern with the glasses is that some light will come through when wearing them and people could hurt
their eyes.

Oliver received the glasses from a friend who had gotten them from a website that offers deals from China, and wasn't on NASA's list of verified vendors. He doesn't want anyone to have a problem watching Monday's eclipse
and is offering a full refund for anyone concerned. He says that he has no problem giving back someone their money, and wants people to be safe.
