South Wichita residents voice concern over Palisade Park

South Wichita residents are raising concerns about hazardous material being thrown away near Palisade Park.

In 1992, the City of Wichita acquired the 5 acre stretch of land to be used to build a neighborhood park. Two decades later, the park project hasn't progressed very much.

The area on the back half of the park is covered with trash, cement blocks, and other hazards that make it a dangerous area to be in. Despite the city taxing residents for the park, some people believe that the city hasn't done anything to make sure kids are safe in the area.

One of the biggest concerns for homeowners is that the area in question used to be a wetland: it appears as if those homeowners living nearest the wetland might have their homes fall in!

City officials are expected to look into the issue.
