Strong thunderstorms packing high wind and large hail marched across central Kansas early today. Thunderstorm warnings were issued for Reno, Harvey, and northern Butler and Sedgwick Counties around 12:30 a.m.  One inch or quarter-sized hail was reported at Hutchinson and a wind gust of 70 miles per hour was reported in Reno County. The National Weather Service received a number of reports of one and three quarter inch or golf ball-sized hail with these storms.

Then before 2 a.m. another storm came through the Wichita area prompting a thunderstorm warning for all of Sedgwick County and most of Butler County.  This storm had reports of 60 mile per hour winds and a report of one and one quarter inch or half-dollar sized hail near Mt. Hope.
