April 12, 2019 - 5:26 am

A Wichita North High School student was taken into custody after bringing a gun to school.  In a letter sent to parents, Principal Lori Doyle said "the discovery was an isolated incident." The letter says there were no threats made and no one was hurt. The school's resource officer got involved and took the teen into custody.

Principal Doyle urges parents to talk with their children about the "serious consequences" of bringing inappropriate items to school.  The Wichita Public Schools remind parents and students that "if you see something, say something." The district has a SPEAK Up program for students, parents to submit anonymous tips by downloading the "p3tips" app or visit
