WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - Police have a suspect in custody after an armed robbery in North Wichita early Sunday morning.

Just before 4 AM, officers were called to the Kwik Shop convenience store in the 7-hundred block of West 29th Street North.

Upon their arrival, officers contacted a store employee who stated the suspect entered the store armed with what he described as a "long gun" and demanded cigarettes. The suspect took cigarettes, then left the store to the north on-foot.

Officer Paul Cruz says police responded quickly and were able to view surveillance video and obtain a suspect description. Officers then checked the area and were able to locate the suspect, a 28-year-old male, who was hiding nearby. He was taken into custody without incident.

Officer Cruz says there were no injuries and all stolen property was recovered along with the rifle used in the robbery.
