Authorities believe they may have discovered a dog fighting ring.

Wichita police seized five dogs that were suspected to be part of a dog fighting ring in Wichita after
recieving a tip that the dogs were at a residence in the 1500 block of North Minnesota.

When police began their investigation Wednesday afternoon, they found the five dogs, two of which were suffering from broken legs and were taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. One of the dogs had to be put down because of the seriousness of it's injuries. The other dogs were taken to animal control.

In addition to the dogs, police confiscated cash, drugs, a stolen weapon, and dog fighting paraphenalia including heavy chains, medications, and tie-downs.

A police spokesman did not say whether this case is related to another incident earlier in the week involving the rescue of an injured dog. No arrests have been made.
