Police have a suspect in custody, after a man was beaten in N. Wichita near 11th & Waco.

It happened Thursday evening, as a 62-year-old man was driving down the street in the 1200 block of N. Jackson, when somebody threw something at his car.

The man got out of his car, confronting a pair of male suspects, one of whom began to batter him. The other suspect retrieved a baseball bat, and hit the victim with it.

Police say the man received substantial visible injuries, but is expected to survive; he also suffered the loss of a tooth.

Witnesses helped police identify one of the suspects, and a 17-year-old boy was booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility for aggravated battery, and an outstanding arrest warrant. The other suspect remains on the loose.
