January 12, 2018 - 10:13 am

A man from California accused of making a hoax emergency call that led to the fatal police shooting of an unarmed man in Wichita has been extradited to Kansas and is set to appear in court on Friday afternoon.

25-year-old Tyler Barriss was booked into jail in Wichita on Thursday on charges including suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors allege he made a call from Los Angeles on Dec. 28 with a fake story about a shooting and kidnapping at a home in Wichita; responding police officers fatally shot a man at the home.

Barriss is being held on a bond of $500,000. Barriss is expected to make a first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court after 2:30 p.m. Friday.
