Teen killed in traffic accident south of Ft. Scott

A teenager is dead after a traffic accident in eastern Kansas.  According to the Kansas Highway Patrol it happened in Bourbon County south of Ft. Scott around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. 

A pickup truck northbound on U.S. 69 crossed the center line and sideswiped a southbound pickup truck before striking a semi head-on.  

The driver of the northbound pickup, 15-year-old Hunter Kovacic of Stark, Kan. was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  The driver of the semi was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott.  The driver of the southbound pickup was uninjured.
