Two arrested after boy found dead in south Wichita mobile home

Wichita police arrested a man and woman on suspicion of felony murder stemming from the death of their 2-year-old son.

KSN reports it happened Thursday around 11:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic. 

Officers arrived and found that 28-year-old Patrick Javonovich and 22-year-old Brandi Marchant were walking back to the home after being involved in a verbal disturbance. The two had left the home leaving a 2-year-old boy and 4-month-old boy alone. 

Police entered the home to check on two children and found a 2-year-old boy unresponsive in a crib. The 2-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy will be performed on the boy. 

The 4-month-old boy was transported to the hospital where he remains for medical care. The child will be placed into protective care. 

Police said the investigation is ongoing. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney who will determine what charges will be filed.

 

Media Release from Wichita Police: 

The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has identified the victim in the child homicide investigation as 2-year-old Zaiden Javonovich of Wichita.

The boy’s parents, 28-year-old Patrick Javonovich of Wichita and 22-year-old Brandi Marchant of Wichita were booked on charges of felony murder this morning.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in the 4500 block of south Hydraulic.  Upon arrival, officers contacted Javonovich and his girlfriend, Marchant, walking back to the residence.

The investigation revealed Javonovich and Marchant were involved in a verbal disturbance with each other and had left the residence, leaving Zaiden and a 4-month-old boy home alone.

The WPD officers entered the home to check on the children and found Zaiden unresponsive in a crib.  Zaiden was pronounced dead on the scene.  The 4-month-old was found to be in need of medical attention.  The 4-month-old was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment, and remains hospitalized.
