Two fatal traffic accidents in northern Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - On Wednesday the Kansas Highway Patrol investigated 2 separate fatal traffic accidents involving semi trucks in northern Kansas. 

The first happened after 9 a.m. Wednesday in Mitchell County on U.S. 24 about 5 miles west of Beloit, Kan.  A westbound pickup truck crossed the centerline and struck a semi truck head on. The driver of the pickup, 39-year-old Sean Cooper of Beloit was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the semi was uninjured.

The second accident happened Wednesday around 3 p.m. in Thomas County on U.S. 83 east of Colby, Kan.  A northbound car attempted to make a u-turn and was struck by a southbound semi truck.  The driver of the car, 52-year-old Norman Hale of Omaha, Neb. was taken to Citizens Medical Center in Colby where he died.  The driver of the semi truck was uninjured.
