Gunfire led to a pair of deaths during the weekend in the north part of Wichita; it happened after 2:00 a.m. Saturday near 21st & Market.

Police investigators believe three men were in an alley west of the intersection, shooting a firearm into the air. Also in that area, there were several people in the back yard of a residence north of the intersection.

A disturbance occurred between the people in the back yard and the men in the alley, leading to gunshots. A 24-year-old man from the alley received a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and a 36-year-old man from the back yard had a gunshot wound to the leg; both gunshot victims died from their injuries at the hospital.

These were the 34th and 35th murder cases in Wichita this year.
