Two shootings, two deaths overnight

City's homicide count now 32 in 2018

Wichita Police are investigating two overnight shootings.

At approximately 8 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting call in the 2200 block of north Grove.  They found a 51-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound to the head.  Police say the victim was involved in a physical disturbance with an unknown suspect when the suspect shot and killed him.  

The other shooting took place at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday, at a residence in the 2100 block of south Palisade.  Officers found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck.  He was transported to an area hospital but died from his injuries. Officers report an unknown suspect shot into the residence from the outside striking the victim. The suspect then fled the scene.  

These two shootings bring the city's 2018 homicide count to 32.
