Two shot in downtown Wichita

Two people were shot in downtown Wichita early Sunday morning.

It happened around 8 a.m., at south Broadway and Lewis Street.  According to Sedgwick County Dispatch, a 30 year-old woman had a life-threatening gunshot wound to the back.  A 40 year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Wichita Police said shell casings were everywhere at the scene.

Police say the suspect fled the scene on foot and then called 911. He was placed into custody.  According to officials, the man suffered some kind of mental crisis.

The two victim's names have not been released.  At last check, the woman was undergoing surgery.
