Two young boys under the age of five were taken to a hospital after firing a gun in S. Wichita, and 26-year-old Delano Rogers has been arrested in the case.

This happened at about 9:00 a.m. Tuesday when the boys and their 21-year-old mother went to the home of her friend, Rogers, in the 2200 block of S. Main. Inside, the boys began playing with a handgun which fired, injuring the kids. Rogers then drove the boys and their mom to Via Christi-St. Joseph hospital, and he left the scene.

Officers found Rogers at his home; he's charged with two counts of aggravated child endangerment, interference with judicial process, and drug charges, including possesion of marijuana.

Investigators also believe they located the handgun from the case, in a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Minneapolis.

Both of the young boys, a four-year-old and a two-year-old, had gunshot wounds to their hands. The older boy underwent surgery, and remained in the hospital as of Wednesday morning. The younger boy was treated, then placed into police protective custody at the Wichita Children's Home.
