Update: Investigation of Drive-By Report in NE Wichita

Damage was from a rock, not a bullet

May 23, 2018 - 1:43 pm

Investigators have determined it was a rock, and not a bullet, that hit a business in the northeast part of Wichita. Several law enforcement personnel had responded to a business near 21st and Woodlawn around 11:15 a.m. after a reported drive-by shooting.

Two Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputies were at a restaurant, when they were contacted by a MobileComm employee. The employee said he thought someone may have fired a bullet at the sheriff's vehicle. Officials did locate some damage at the front of the MobileComm business; the car was not hit.

Traffic to the west of the intersection was closed while officials investigated the case.
