A four-year-old boy was hit by a bullet in the north part of Wichita after a road-rage incident; he was hospitalized in critical-but-stable condition.

Police have arrested the female driver of the suspects' car, 21-year-old Ramonyka Smith, and the 19-year-old man believed to have fired the two shots, Tylin Atkinson.

Road-rage occurred late Wednesday afternoon between the occupants of a Chevy Tahoe and a Ford Mustang; there were three people in the Mustang, and nine people in the Tahoe, including six children under the age of 10. Police officer Charley Davidson says the incident began near 29th & Broadway, then to 13th & Broadway, then to the 1200 block of N. Topeka; that's where police believe Atkinson got out of the Mustang and fired two shots at the Tahoe, striking the boy in his side.

The Mustang was located at 9th & Volutsia, where Smith was apprehended; Atkinson was taken into custody at a house in the 1100 block of N. Hydraulic. They were both charged with aggravated battery, and unlawful discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

The third person in the Mustang, a 21-year-old man, was booked into jail for outstanding arrest warrants.
