A student at Wichita Northwest High School, 17-year-old Dominick Sublett, was killed in a traffic accident in the west part of Wichita.

It happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. Monday in a collision between a Mercury Mountaineer and a Honda Civic east of Central & Tyler. Police officer Charley Davidson says the SUV was being driven by an 83-year-old man; he was east-bound on Central, turning left on to Socora.

Police officer Charley Davidson said, "Speed is being investigated as a potential factor in this accident at this time, regarding the 2000 silver Honda."

Sublett died at the scene; the two 16-year-olds were hospitalized in serious condition. The driver of the SUV had only minor injuries.

This is the 23rd traffic death this year in cases worked by the Wichita police department.
