The Wichita Board of Education held a special meeting Friday afternoon to discuss the increase of COVID-19 cases in Sedgwick County.

The board voted 4 to 3 to affirm the October 20 adoption of the blended Onsite/My School Remote model for high schools and middle schools, and that the current Onsite/My School Remote model continue for elementary schools.

Sedgwick County Health Director Adrianne Byrne told the board "At this point the data is not saying it's because we're in school."  Byrne said "More cases yes but they're being connected to outside of school.  Activities outside of school."

As of noon Thursday, Sedgwick County is reporting 182 new cases, bringing the county’s total to 11,527.

The blended plan for learning will begin November 12 for the second nine weeks.  The board will review this data again at the November 9 meeting.
