An allegation of child sex crimes in Wichita leads to an arrest.
A man reported to police that his eight-year-old daughter had possibly been sexually assaulted on multiple occasions during the past couple of years by a male babysitter.
The suspect, a 56-year-old man, was arrested early Monday afternoon in Kechi and was booked into jail for rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The babysitter and the girl’s family are acquaintances.
The suspect was convicted of 1st-degree murder in Cowley County in 1984 for strangling a woman to death in Winfield with a rope; he served more than 22 years in prison before being paroled in 2006.
