Wichita canceling classes Tuesday due to dangerous wind chills, Friends U delays start times

The Wichita Public Schools will not have classes on Tuesday, January 16 due to the predicted extremely cold temperatures and wind chills.   

District spokeswoman Susan Arensman said in an email that all high school athletic practices and competitions will take place as scheduled.  And that all non-attendance centers will remain open on Tuesday.

At Wichita State University, offices will be closed and classes will not be held Tuesday, Jan. 16. Instead, the university anticipates starting the spring semester on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

However, the women's basketball game will be played as scheduled in Charles Koch Arena.

Newman University has also canceled classes for Tuesday, but Friends University will delay classes due to weather for Jan. 16. Classes will start at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
