Wichita City Council approves scooters, defers airport hotel vote

July 02, 2019 - 11:04 am

The Wichita City Council quickly got down to business at Tuesday's meeting.

In a meeting that lasted just over 45 minutes, the council approved pilot operating agreements with Veoride Scooters and Zagster Scooters.  This will bring an electric scooter sharing program to the community.

The council also deferred a motion on a hotel agreement at Eisenhower National Airport.  Wichita City Manager Robert Layton said the attorney representing the DoubleTree Hotel chain reached out to the city yesterday and said he was unaware of any concerns.

Mr. Layton added: "Give us two weeks to be able to have him circle back with his client and for us to learn if there are any issues to work via the attorney to try to address those."

The council will take up the agreement on July 16th.
