We're not sure if it was a record, but Tuesday's Wichita City Council meeting lasted just 4 minutes!

Along with approving last week's meeting minutes, the council approved 20 items on their consent agenda.  One of those items was funding for bridge improvements in east Wichita.  The bridges on Douglas and 2nd Street at Brookside will be replaced, at a cost of $1.7 million.  Both projects are set to begin this fall, with Douglas Street reduced to one lane in each direction while 2nd Street will be closed.  Construction should be wrapped up by next fall.

Not only was the meeting short, but the council was down to 5 members. Mayor Jeff Longwell was at the WSU Metroplex for a KDOT Local Consult workshop.  On Monday, the Mayor announced that Governor Laura Kelley had appointed him to a special advisory group on transportation.

Council member Brandon Johnson from District 1 was also absent.
