Under a city law passed by voters in 1991, Wichita’s mayor and council members are limited to two consecutive four-year terms. At Tuesday's meeting, the city council will take another look at term limits. Mayor Jeff Longwell tells KNSS News local elections are different than someone serving in Washington, DC, "where they're so far removed".

Textron Aviation has announced layoffs in Wichita ... though it hasn't said how many. Textron has received a lot of city bond money, designed to promote growth and hiring. Will this round of layoffs have an impact on that financing? Mayor Jeff Longwell says it should not, since those bonds were issued to finance specific departments. He says the layoffs will affect those who design aircraft, rather than those who build the planes. Longwell says Textron employment in Wichita will likely increase.

Longwell commented during Mondays with the Mayor ... on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
