Crews around the state are preparing for the incoming winter weather. And the same goes for the city of Wichita, working to keep the streets from being slippery.
The rain began Wednesday night. While law enforcement officials will be patrolling the streets Thursday morning, Wichita Public Works will be doing what they can as well.
"We will be deploying all 60 trucks and we'll be monitoring the weather conditions, the roads," said Alan King, director of Wichita Public Works and Utilities.
Even though the city will be putting down materials, officials say that drivers can also do their part to prevent an accident by taking it slow and using the proper lights.
