Wichita Crime Stoppers asks for help in solving church robbery

Wichita and Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in solving a church burglary.

The break-in took place on Monday November 4th, between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. at Celebration Baptist Church in the 7200 block of east 9th street.

Surveillance video shows a light colored SUV parking in the north church parking lot.  

Officers determined the suspects broke a basement window to enter the church.  Just before 7:00 a.m. two suspects, a man and a woman, were observed on surveillance video leaving the church through the west doors.

"Both suspects appeared to be spooked by something," said Officer Kevin Wheeler.  "They were in a rush," he added.  The loss was mostly audio equipment, and damage to a window that was estimated to be several thousand dollars.

The first suspect was described as a white man, 6'1" tall, , 200 lbs.  He was wearing a USA flag hat and face mask, blue jeans, a dark jacket, gloves and was carrying a saddle bag.

The woman was described as white, 5"5', 160 lbs.  She was wearing a knitted cap, with floppy rabbit ears.  She also had on blue jeans and a dark jacket.
