Wichita Crime Stoppers needs help solving a pair of break-ins

August 06, 2019 - 11:44 pm

On July 19 at around 4:00 a.m. police say there was an attempted break-in at Merle’s Place in the 400 block on north Seneca.

Two suspects in a light colored sedan and forced their way into the front door, but were scared off by the alarm system.  The total loss was damage to the building.

Both suspects were described as white men.  One was wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants, and a blue KC baseball cap, (which he wore backwards).  The second suspect was wearing a white hoodie that was pulled over his face.  He was wearing dark shorts and knee high socks.

Police Officer Kevin Wheeler says that around 5:15 a.m. the same morning, officers responded to a break in at the Indian Hills Ace Hardware store in the 2400 block of west 13th.

"There again two suspects in this case," Wheeler said.  "One appeared to be the same suspect from the Merle’s case."  The suspects arrived in a white colored Dodge Ram.  "One suspect used a hammer to break a window in the front of store," Wheeler said.  The suspect reached in and removed two pole saws from a display.

The loss from that robbery was estimated at $3,200.
