Nearly 30 people had to find another place to stay Friday night, after a fire broke out at an east Wichita apartment complex.

It happened around 10 p.m. Friday, in the 7000 block of east Kellogg Drive, between Woodlawn and Rock Road.

Wichita Fire crews reported that smoke was visible when they arrived. The blaze was contained to the bottom floor of the laundry room.

No injuries were reported but power was shut off to the 11 unit building. Most residents found another place to stay for the night and the Red Cross assisted the rest.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and there are no damage estimates available at this time.
