Wichita lawyer who stole from elderly client sentenced

A Wichita lawyer has been sentenced to probation after admitting he stole more than $900,000 from an elderly client with dementia.
Larry Toomey was sentenced to two years of probation, with an underlying sentence of 26 months, on Friday. He pleaded guilty in April to felony theft.
Prosecutors say Toomey spent nearly $962,000 from the woman's bank accounts.
Toomey was also ordered to be evaluated for a gambling addiction and follow the recommended treatment after admitting to a gambling adiction.
Prosecutors say Toomey the thefts took place over seven years, while the woman was living in a Wichita nursing home.
