Wichita Library Big Read posponed to 2021

The Wichita Public Library and its community partners have chosen to postpone the Big Read program until January and February 2021. The program was originally scheduled for October 1 through November 15 of 2020.

The Big Read planning team and Library staff are keeping public health and safety at the forefront of their decision making and are currently looking at reformatting the program to be primarily virtual.

The featured book is “Circe” by Madeline Miller, a novel about the goddess Circe that takes readers on a journey into the world of gods, monsters and mortals. The novel was selected by a panel of Library staff members and community partners during a meeting in fall of 2021.

The Wichita Public Library is a recipient of a grant of $15,000 to host the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read in Wichita.

The Wichita Public Library is one of 84 organizations selected to receive an NEA Big Read grant to support a community reading program.
