The South Central Neighborhood, located to the south of downtown Wichita, is going to receive a $50,000 grant from the City of Wichita for neighborhood enhancements.

City council-member James Clendenin says the neighborhood is more than just the Broadway corridor, and it hopes to build momentum from its existing assets; he cited among those strengths the Kansas Firefighters Museum, Lincoln Park, the Arkansas River, and the sidewalk along the river to the Lincoln Street Bridge & Dam.

The grant money comes from the City's recent $20 million sale of the downtown Hyatt Hotel.

The South Central Neighborhood stretches from Kellogg to Pawnee, between the Arkansas River and Washington.
