Wichita Police are seeking help identifying a church van thief

Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of stealing a local church’s van and causing damage to another.

At approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday April 4, a male suspect walked onto the property of Bethel Baptist Church at 3600 West 2nd Street North.  He began tampering with doors and windows to the building as well as with church buses and vans.  

The suspect is seen on surveillance video throwing an object and breaking out the windows on both vans in the parking lot.  He entered one van and caused damage to the ignition.  The suspect was somehow able to start the engine on a second van and drove the van west on West 2nd Street. 

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10”, and 175 lbs.  He was wearing a gray overcoat, blue jeans with a hole in the right knee of the pants, black shoes, and a gray hat.
