Wichita Police Department reverses policy on tattoos

The Wichita Police Department has reversed their policy on tattoos.

Previous policy stated that visible tattoos needed to be covered, which meant officers had to wear long sleeves in the summer.

The new policy will allow officers to show off their tattoos, but they cannot have any profanity and have to be approved by a supervisor before being exposed.

Officials hope the new policy will bring added diversity to the department.
