Wichita Police investigating fatal shooting on South Oliver

11th homicide of the year

A man in his 30s was fatally shot late Friday night.

It happened just before Midnight.  Wichita Police responded to the Sugar Creek Apartments in the 2500 block of south Oliver, near Pawnee and Oliver. 

When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man who had multiple gunshot wounds. The man died on the scene. 

Police say the man arrived at the apartments with his 35-year-old girlfriend to meet with an individual. A disturbance ensued between the victim and an unknown suspect, who fired multiple shots, striking the victim. 

They have not released the name of that victim in the city's 11 homicide of the year.

The suspect is described as an unknown black man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. 

Police say this is not a random event.
