The Wichita Police Department has arrested a man in connection to the death of 21-year-old Israel Norwood of Wichita.

According to booking documents, Idriys Norwood, Jr., 18, is in custody on suspicions of 2nd-degree murder and felony possession of opiates.

Norwood, Jr., was listed in Sedgwick County Jail’s daily booking report Sunday. His case number matched that of Israel Norwood’s death investigation.

Israel Norwood arrived at Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital with a gunshot wound, police say. He was in a car with his two younger brothers, ages 17 and 18. The 18-year-old brother fled from the hospital on foot but was located later by police.

At the time, police said both brothers and the family were not cooperating with investigators. Israel Norwood died later at the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
