Wichita police officer sues Chief Gordon Ramsay

A Wichita Police officer is suing Police Chief Gordon Ramsay,  saying the Chief ruined his reputation.

Officer Marlon Woolcock was arrested last year, accused of rape.  However, no criminal charges were ever filed. Comments made by Chief Ransay when Woolcock was arrested were misleading, and those comments made it appear as if Woolcock actually committed the crime.

Woolcock's attorney filed the lawsuit, claiming Chief Ramsay disparaged Woolcock in an e-mail to the entire department and again later in a briefing with the media.  Ramsay said, "I can't help but be very disturbed by the nature of these allegations and in no way should it reflect on the good people of the Wichita Police Department."

The lawsuit also alleges that Chief Ramsay's comments hurt Woolcock's chances of ever becoming an FBI agent.   Woolcock seeks $75,000 in damages.
