Wichita is expected to get a few inches of snowfall this weekend, and City road crews are getting ready.

Once the snow begins to accumulate, the City will deploy all 60 of its trucks equipped with snow plows. They'll be clearing off the city's 1,500 miles of primary surface roadways.

Once the streets are down to bare pavement, the five dozen trucks will continue treating the roads with a salt/sand mix for better traction.

Wichita is tapping into its salt reserves for use in preparing the salt/sand mix. Officials say even though there have been multiple weather events this winter, there are no concerns that the City would run low on salt before spring.
